This piece features a highly aesthetic array of gemmy calcites on a dolomite matrix with bright purple and blue Chalcopyrite! As with all Sweetwater calcites they are UV reactive as well, glowing red under longwave UV.
Beyond the amazing aesthetic of this piece and quality that come from this mine, one of the things that makes this piece so special is the fact that the mine itself is not focused on producing specimens. The mine is a ore mine located deep underground with a focus on producing high quality lead, silver and other raw ores.
When the miners come across pockets of calcites in the day to day mining operations they are then able to take the time to mine these amazing pieces. This is also one of the reasons that larger volumes of these minerals never make it to market.
