Moldavite is a silica-based glass formed approximately 15 million years ago as a result of a massive meteorite impact in what is now known as the Czech Republic. This impact melted the surrounding earth, ejecting molten earth and meteorite into the atmosphere, where it rapidly cooled and solidified as it fell from the atmosphere into what we know as Moldavite today!
